When the limousine was backing up out of
the driveway, Zongzi waved good-bye and said,
"Don't forget to pick up Bonsai from
work".
I left and when the limousine got rolling
down the road, I turned on the radio.
While on the way to pick up Bonsai, I thought
to my self that I was lucky that Zongzi had
reminded me because, I had completely forgot.
If I had forgot again, Bonsai would throw
me to the neighborhood Tom-cats!
Earlier that week I had forgot to pick him
up two days in a row. Both times Bonsai had
to walk home. On top of all that, Bonsai
is also mad at me because I have been parking
the limousine over where he buries his favorite
bones.
Bonsai's boss Benni, owner of the junkyard,
opened the gate and let Bonsai out at 5:30.
(Yes Benni has a big butt and he almost sat
on me once but that is another story.)
I did not have to be at the airport until
8:00 am so Bonsai and I went for ride along
the lakeshore. Bonsai likes to look for a
certain somebody. (If you want the name,
you'll have to ask Bonsai yourself.)
While we rode north on First Avenue, Bonsai
told me that earlier that night two young
kids, who were stealing car speakers, had
trapped and locked him inside one of the
junk cars. Bonsai then told me that he hasn't
fell for that trick in a long time and to
make things worse his boss saw everything.
He said that the kids had made him look foolishly
incompetent and his boss warned him that
it better not happen again. Bonsai then brought
up that because he hasn't been getting enough
sleep, he has not been very alert at work.
Now if he screws up one more time he will
lose his job. After Bonsai said all this,
he began to doze off.
When I saw that he was sleeping, I decided
to stop at the Red Arrow Park to get a drink
of water and use the bathroom. If he were
awake, he would not have let me stop. (Ask
him the reason why!)
I wanted to time myself to see how long it
would take me and so I looked at my watch
when I got of the limousine. It was 6:20
am. Being a driver with my type of schedule
every second counts.
The park had the usual morning traffic of
people who were walking, jogging and roller-blading
and bicycling. I had to wait in a small line
for a drink of water and this took a few
minutes. After I got a drink, I went into
the bathroom.
While I was in the bathroom, I talked to
Herman. He was bathing in the sink when informed
me that the previous night somebody had knocked
him out and kidnapped his squirrelfriend.
Herman went on to inform me that the last
thing he remembers was trying to impress
his squirrelfriend with a seductive jig when
somebody clubbed him on the head.
When Herman gained consciousness, he said
that he saw two brown squirrels carrying
his squirrelfriend up a tree. He then said
that he tried to go after them but he could
not get a grip on to the tree and that he
kept sliding down it.
