However, everything went black and my body
swallowed my spirit!
I got back onto my feet and instantly scampered
to a nearby piece of strawberry taffy. It
was like a welcome back to life treat and
my first America feast!
While licking the taffy, I watched Zongzi
sit down at the bar and begin to drink beer
from a large flask. Some of the patrons in
the Pub went by the music-box and began to
put coins in it. I could hear them say that
they could not wait to hear Zongzi sing.
After finishing the taffy, a mouse with a
black patch over his right eye came over
by me and asked,
"Iye matee did cha like the taffy".
Then this white and light brown mouse introduced
himself as Captain Jack. I replied by introducing
myself and then I said, "Strawberry
taffy is my favorite!" I informed him
how far I came to hear Zongzi Sentieri sing.
However, Captain Jack gave me some sad news
stating Zongzi would not be singing tonight.
He went on to inform me that he lives with
Zongzi and that Zongzi does not call him
by the name of Captain Jack. He went on to
say that Zongzi calls him Peanuts.
Then he went on to explain to me this unbelievable
story about Zongzi Sentieri's brother, Tommy,
who had been abducted by aliens!
He then asked,
"Would cha be interested n joinin my
crew and assist us in the rescue Zongzi's
brother?"
I did not know how I could be any help. Nevertheless,
I informed Captain Jack that being a fly,
as I am, I probably did not have much to
offer to his crew and that I might not be
around to help much longer because flies
do not have that much time to live.
Captain Jack stood on his hind legs, took
a wooden toothpick form off the bar, pointed
it at me and said,
"Iye matee, we all shall walk the plank
into the unknown abyss! I want to know are
you with us or against us! If you're against
us I'll skewer you myself. Will you joinin
the rescue party or not!"
The mouse then made a quick stabbing motion
and put the point of the toothpick between
my bug-eyes.
I eyed the toothpick's point with both eyes
and said,
"Count me in!"
Captain Jack then walked up to me and flipped
the black eye-patch that covered his right
eye. The grotesque eye socket stitched and
charred black frighten me. Then Captain Jack
said, "I knew you'd see it my way!"
I then asked him what exactly did he want
me to do. Captain Jack voiced relaxed and
he went on to say that all I had to do is
get a message to the Zongzi's brother Tommy.
He continued to inform me that a parakeet
named, Shea, would be the one who will give
me the message and that I am to relay that
message to Tommy.
Then he informed me that besides Zongzi and
the parakeet there are others involved in
this very complicated rescue saying,
"To be successful the crew must all
work together!"
After hearing all that Captain Jack had to
say, I looked at Zongzi to see him drink
his beer and finish the flask. Zongzi then
put the flask down and stood up. He then
laid his hand down by Captain Jack. Captain
Jack scurried up Zongzi's arm and disappeared
into Zongzi's hair.
Patrons at the Pub saw that Zongzi was getting
ready to leave and they were disappointed
that they would not hear him sing. However,
they did seem to know that Zongzi had other
things on his mind because I heard a few
of them say,
"Zongzi has more important things on
his mind".
Zongzi made a couple of short squeak noises
and Captain Jack replied by squeaking back
at him. I did understand them however Zongzi's
eyes lit up. Zongzi then opened the door
to what looked like a miniature bird house
that was chained around his neck. He then
held it with his thumb and forefinger with
its door open. Captain Jack then yelled out,
Get into Zongzi's bug-tote!"
I then asked what a bug-tote was and Captain
Jack pointed at the cage hanging from Zongzi's
neck.
I then quickly buzzed into the bug-tote,
which barely had enough room inside of it.
When I was inside, Zongzi closed the door
behind me.
