I walk away into a strong breeze like a zombie chasing its demise. I feel hypnotically deadened, depressed and dreary as the black clouds linger overhead. The winds whip a chilling misty rain against my face and arms. The hungry shadows of my shattered past capture and encase me. My willingness never to surrender slowly begins to dissolve. The sound of my dragging footsteps accompanies me down the lonely road. Up hill and down I walk endlessly around the world until my distressful torment finally catches up with me on this thorny,
pathetic path to nowhere. I lose my grip on reality and I'm swept overboard drowning in the brutal waves of self disgust.
My heart is too heavy and I am too far-gone. There is not much left of me to save. I have not eaten in days waiting for this nightmare to end. Nothing matters anymore.
Then all my racing thoughts come to an abrupt halt. My own identity cannot recognize me.
The sky rumbles and I can hear it calling my name. Looking up to see a hateful face in the black clouds a thunderous voice shakes me. The deep voice bellows over and over again, "Expect no mercy!"
I shout back saying, "I beg you not to! Take me into your sweltering abyss and torture my spirit for all eternity. Please. I welcome any pain that will make me forget what I have done!"
Watching me suffer, the clouds seem amused and an uncontrollable laughter fills the sky.

This epic love story was fist publishished in Les Fleur Sauvage. An artisic impressions magazine that printed less than a thousand copies. Then Zongzi's Journey had several printing, each one unique. Then due to the popularity, the unedited version became available for free on the internet. This early version was downloaded thousands of times and can be still found.
Rick Sentieri is currently working on his next book of the "Zongzi's Journey's" series; "Prisoner of Reality.
It is projected to be published in March 2012.
